VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) Tax Preparers will again be at the library to help those who qualify prepare their income tax returns.  There are income qualifications for this assistance.  Taxpayers are asked to call Central WV Community Action and ask for the VITA Tax Preparers to find out if they qualify for this program and to be given a time slot.  The volunteers will be at the library in Lost Creek on February 12 and 13 as well as March 19 and 21.  You must call into Community Action to get a reservation/time.  Their number is 304.622.8495.  You may use the library's phone to make the call if needed.

Big thanks to everyone in the community who made our soup fundraiser a success.  Kudos to all the soupmakers who take time out of their schedules to make soup and then serve it. Thank you to everyone that worked the event.  And as always thank you to our wonderful community who always comes out to support the library.  You help us help the community.  Money from this fundraiser keeps our library warm in the winter and cool in the summer.  It keeps the lights on and the computers running.  This year we had to repaired the furnace which was over $700.  Without these fundraisers, we wouldn't be here to provide all the programming and services the community needs.

Tutoring is available for elementary school students.  Call today to get your child on the schedule.  The funds for this program are provided by The Nutter Foundation.  The tutoring is free to children and their families.

Southern Area Library Volunteers read at the local schools as well as local nursing homes.  If you would like us to read for your organization, please contact the library at 304.745.4865.

This spring there will be our annual spring bingo fundraiser.  If you would like to help with this project, please stop in the library for details.  Or join our Friends of Southern Area Library (FOSAL) group.  FOSAL members help the library with programming, fundraising, and more.  Call the library for more information on the spring bingo event and for more information on becoming a friend of the library.
