The Library with the Big Heart!Our library has over 12,000 books on our shelves with new purchases every month. Videos and DVDs may also be rented for the same two week period as printed materials. Our patrons have access to ebooks and other online materials through WV Deli. Patrons also have access to magazines through Zinio. Southern Area Library has nine patron computers. The entire building is wi-fi accessible. There is also a fax machine, a printer, and a copier for patron use. We offer a private reading room with wi-fi access. We also have a genealogy room upstairs with local memorabilia and local historical writings and information. Numerous programs are offered throughout the year including a monthly genealogy meeting, tutoring, children's programming, and more. Click here to access our calendar
SOUTHERN AREA LIBRARY TRUSTEES AND THEIR FUNDRAISER The library board of trustees annually sends out a fundraising letter to patrons, library supporters, local community leaders, and others asking for support for the library. Donors are divided into the following categories based on the amount of their current year contribution. The following categories are used: Builder $50+; Founder $100+; Cornerstone $500+. The fundraising letters are typically mailed out to supporters in the fall so please watch your mail for your letter each fall. If you would like to be added to this fundraiser campaign mailing list, please send your address to the library by calling us at 304.745.4865 or sending your information to our director Wilma Bennett.
